<title>Hal Leonard Issues Winter NAMM Press Release on LMM</title>
<link>http://www.lawsonmusicmedia.com/Article3.html</link>
<description>This was recently released by Hal Leonard Corp, just before Winter NAMM 2007

HAL LEONARD TAPS MIKE LAWSON TO CONSULT IN TRADE BOOK DEVELOPMENT

MILWAUKEE - The world's largest and most innovative music print publisher, Hal Leonard Corporation has hired Mike Lawson of Lawson Music Media, Inc. to work as an exclusive consultant in the development of reference publications, primarily books, book/CDs and DVDs in the areas of music technology and the music business. Based in Nashville, Lawson will be working closely with John Cerullo, group publisher for Hal Leonard trade books, who works out of the company's Manhattan office.

Lawson and Hal Leonard Corporation have enjoyed a long and fruitful working relationship, dating back to 1996. He was most recently the publisher for ArtistPro, whose books Hal Leonard distributes. Prior to that, Lawson was a founding publisher of MixBooks. Both the MixBooks and ArtistPro imprints are highly acclaimed for their titles on recording, audio production, software, and all aspects of the music business.

Comments Cerullo, &quot;From his years of experience as a book developer and publisher, Mike is very familiar with the reference book market and the publishing strategies necessary to thrive therein. He keeps himself apprised of the latest technological advances for musicians, and he is very well connected to many top-notch experts to author books and DVDs. We are pleased that he will be working with us, using his knowledge to help us round out our offerings in this genre.&quot;

Lawson says, &quot;From more than ten years of presenting titles to the Hal Leonard sales team, and working trade shows in the Hal Leonard booth, I feel that I am already a member of the Hal family. I know from experience that there is no more innovative, focused and fair group of people in this industry, and I'm proud of our new relationship. Recruiting authors directly for Hal Leonard now is something I can do with great confidence, knowing what good hands their works will be in when published.&quot;

A native of Florida, Lawson toured as a professional musician and worked as a live sound and recording studio engineer before developing his publishing career over 15 years ago. He is a past San Francisco Chapter Governor, Officer and National Trustee of The Recording Academy, and currently serves on the Advisory Board of TI:ME (the Technology Institute for Music Educators). </description>
