| Audio Impressions Previews DVZ Strings at audioMIDI Event July 26
Audio Impressions will conduct a public preview of the release version of DVZ Strings virtual instruments and 70-piece orchestral string library at the audioMIDI.com Film & TV Composition Clinic on July 26.
DVZ Strings includes samples of Stradivari and Guarneri instruments and it features groundbreaking technologies developed to produce real-time, real-world orchestral balance for accurate score realization. A hallmark of the DVZ product is the ability to specify the size of a particular section, and to direct that when more than one note is played simultaneously for a section, the section is divided among the notes, rather than doubled where the entire section play both notes.
The product also features Audio Impressions' SPACE, Decca Tree and microphone cross-bleed simulation software with continuously variable room size and acoustic adjustments.
Audio Impressions' future releases will include DVZ Winds, DVZ Brass, and Ai Percussion. The company has positioned its Audio Impressions Realtime Instruments Libraries for film, TV and videogame composers with demanding deadlines and for live theater performances and music education.
The audioMIDI.com clinic will also feature presenters from Apple, Apogee, Ilio, Native Instruments, Yellow Tools, Steinberg, Mark of the Unicorn, Antelope Audio, JBL, Equator Audio, Euphonix, Celemony and ADAM Professional Audio.

| Digidesign Eleven is a Natural Fit for Navarro |
|
|
|
| “I’ve never found anything that simulates a speaker cabinet like this before.”
From his edgy, driving riffs with the Red Hot Chili Peppers and Jane’s Addiction to his recent DJ-based collaborations, guitarist Dave Navarro has always been a musical and technological pioneer, unafraid to stray from the conventional and embrace the latest in leading-edge technologies.
Navarro, who is presently in the midst of a club tour with DJ Scribble, has been working with an eclectic range of musicians and producers to create musical content that blends the best of rock, hip hop, and esoteric styles. Joined by his long-time engineer, Mike Riescha, Navarro has been laying down the goods in his Pro Tools|HD®-equipped studio, largely eschewing his massive collection of amplifiers in favor of Digidesign’s new guitar amp emulation plug-in, Eleven™.
“I’m a purist—I’ve always played through amps,” Navarro explains. “I’ve tried pretty much every amp plug-in there is, but I’ve never found anything that simulates a speaker cabinet like this before. It’s really got the bite and the attack that’s missing from most plug-ins, and it’s as responsive to my playing as a real tube amp.”
But it’s not only in the studio where Eleven has proven its worth—Navarro is beginning to use it more and more for live performances as well. “We’re doing a lot of mashups,” he explains, “and one of the problems I found was that the sound of my live amp setup was overpowering the music. Using Eleven, the sounds I get blend far better into the mix.”
On the road, Eleven has enabled Navarro to bring an arsenal of “virtual” amps right along with him. “I do a lot of writing in hotel rooms,” he says. “I can use Eleven on a laptop, and it’s easy for me to drop in a part and have a guitar track that’s usable for a final product—not just a rough track I have to redo later.”
Long on the cutting edge as an artist, Navarro is quick to point out why Pro Tools® and plug-ins such as Eleven are playing such a significant role in the evolution of the music industry. “As we all know, the music industry is changing. Digital technology has become the great enabler, allowing us to create our content as we choose—a song at a time, or a whole concept album—and put it all online. And no company has contributed to that creative control more than Digidesign.”

| AUDIO-TECHNICA LAUNCHES AT2035 AND AT2050 LARGE-DIAPHRAGM SIDE-ADDRESS MICROPHONES |
|
|
|
| Audio-Technica expands its large-diaphragm offerings with the introduction of two new 20 Series side-address condensers
Audio-Technica, a longstanding leader in transducer technology, launches the AT2035 Cardioid Condenser Microphone and the AT2050 Multi-Pattern Condenser Microphone. These new large-diaphragm side-address mics join the acclaimed AT2020, AT2010, AT2041SP and AT2020 USB as members of Audio-Technica's expanding 20 Series, known for its outstanding performance and versatility.
The AT2035 Cardioid Condenser Microphone represents an exceptional value while offering all the performance advantages of a high-quality studio and stage microphone. Intended for a wide variety of miking applications, including overheads, acoustic instruments and guitar cabinets, it features a large diaphragm for smooth, natural sound and low noise. High SPL handling and a wide dynamic range offer unmatched versatility, and a custom shock mount provides superior isolation. The mic's cardioid polar pattern reduces the pickup of sounds from the sides and rear, improving isolation of the desired sound source.
Designed to provide versatility in the most demanding recording applications, the AT2035 has a fixed cardioid polar pattern and features excellent performance specifications, including: a flat, extended frequency response (20-20,000 Hz); high SPL handling capability (148 dB, 158 dB with the 10 dB pad); and an element yielding extremely low self-noise (12 dB SPL). Employing Audio-Technica's modern engineering and manufacturing technology, every aspect of the AT2035 has been tailored for a very smooth, natural sound while ensuring maximum accuracy, making it a perfect complement for today's digital recording equipment.
The AT2050 Multi-Pattern Condenser Microphone is ideal for studio use and live sound productions with vocals, piano, strings, overheads, guitar amps and more. It offers three switchable polar patterns: omni, cardioid and figure-eight. Its dual large diaphragm capsule design maintains precise polar pattern definition across its full frequency range (20-20,000 Hz). The AT2050 has the ability to handle high SPL's (149 dB, 159 dB with the 10 dB pad) with extremely low self-noise (17 dB SPL). In addition, its dual diaphragms are gold-vaporized and aged to achieve optimum characteristics over years of use. Finally, its state-of-the-art surface-mount electronics ensure compliance with A-T's stringent consistency and reliability standards.
Both microphones feature a switchable integral 80 Hz high-pass filter and a 10 dB pad. The filter provides easy switching from a flat frequency response to a low-end roll-off. The high-pass position reduces the microphones' sensitivity to popping in close vocal use. It also reduces the pickup of low-frequency ambient noise. Output from each microphone's XLRM-type connector is low impedance (Lo-Z) balanced; each mic comes with a shock mount and a protective pouch.
The AT2035 Cardioid Condenser Microphone and the AT2050 Multi-Pattern Condenser Microphone will be available August 2008 with pricing as follows:
AT2035 $249.00 U.S. MSRP
AT2050 $369.00 U.S. MSRP

| API TO INTRODUCE THE NEW ARSENAL AUDIO LINE AT SUMMER NAMM |
|
|
|
|
API (Automated Processes, Inc.) has established a brand new line of analog signal processing products - Arsenal Audio. The new line provides an outlet for the company to innovate and expand beyond the core technology on which API has built its reputation since it was established in the late 1960s. Arsenal
Audio will launch at Summer NAMM in Nashville (Booth #322) with an initial offering of three new products - the R20 two-channel mic pre and the R24 two-channel four-band EQ, plus the V14 four-band VPR 500 format equalizer.
Arsenal Audio products feature robust design standards in a solid, reliable package, providing user confidence in both the audio performance and the build quality. Each unit is hand assembled and designed to provide years of great sounding, analog audio performance at a surprisingly affordable price.
The Arsenal R20 is a meticulously detailed and solidly constructed dual-channel microphone preamplifier. Designed from the ground up by API's design team, the R20 features low-noise, high-quality inputs for both mic and instrument in a rack-mount chassis with internal power supply. Each
channel includes rotary gain control plus individual toggle switches for phantom power, phase, pad and mic/instrument input selection.
The dual mic preamps each offer up to 55dB of gain, while each front panel, high-impedance instrument input provides a maximum of 31dB of gain. Each channel's pad switch attenuates the mic input by -20dB, or the instrument input by -10dB. A pair of traditional analog VU meters with separate peak indicators is used for output metering. Both XLR and 1/4" outputs are fully balanced.
The Arsenal R24 features two identical channels of equalization modeled after the classic APSI model 562. The R24 is rack-mounted with internal power supply and delivers an affordable combination of rugged construction and solid performance. Individual continuously variable control knobs allow
for separate adjustment of frequency and gain. All four bands are peak/dipping parametric design with 12dB of boost/cut per band. EQ in/out is controlled by classic toggle switches. The Arsenal R24 includes a custom transformer-balanced output with extended headroom of +23dB.
The Arsenal V14 is an extremely high-quality four-band equalizer modeled after the classic APSI model 562 EQ, and is designed for the popular API VPR 500 series rack format. Controls include dual concentric pots providing continuously variable adjustment of frequency and gain, plus an EQ in/out
switch. All four bands offer peak/dipping parametric configuration with 12dB of boost/cut per band. The Arsenal V14 includes a custom transformer-balanced output with extended headroom of +24dB.
"We're excited about establishing a new brand that compliments API so well," said Larry Droppa, API's president. "Arsenal Audio allows us to offer different technologies, and a different set of creative tools, to help people make music, which is exactly what API has been doing for decades."
Automated Processes, Inc. remains the leader in analog recording gear, with the Vision, Legacy Plus and 1608 recording consoles, as well as the classic line of modular signal processing equipment.

| NEUMANN CELEBRATES ITS 80th ANNIVERSARY WITH THE LAUNCH OF THE TLM 67 |
|
|
|
| In the world of studio microphones, the numbers "47" "67" and "87" have associations that inspire enthusiasm among professionals. It is no coincidence that the name of the new TLM 67 contains the number "67". In many respects, the TLM 67 - which makes its debut at Summer NAMM - is based on the "workhorse" of the 1960s, the legendary U 67.
Like the U 67, the TLM 67 incorporates the K 67 capsule. In addition, the special new circuit design closely reproduces the sound characteristics of the classic U 67, without the use of tubes. Similar Neumann circuit technology has already proved very successful in the TLM 49.
The TLM 67 is extremely versatile. Its three switchable directional characteristics (omnidirectional, cardioid and figure-8), selectable 10dB pre-attenuation, and high-pass filter permit detailed adjustments to be made depending upon the specific recording situation.
The TLM 67 introduces a novel Neumann dual-color design. The pearl-gray of the microphone body combined with the classic 'Neumann nickel' lends the microphone a touch of distinctive individuality. On the occasion of its 80th anniversary, the Neumann company is honoring its founder, George Neumann, with a three-dimensional metal emblem on the front of the TLM 67.
As Wolfgang Fraissinet, president of marketing/sales at Neumann Berlin explains, "The design and circuit technology of the TLM 67 represent a contemporary development of the U 67, conveying its positive attributes to the present era."
NEUMANN
Neumann's award-winning line of microphones has set the standard in the industry since 1928. In 1999, Neumann received the prestigious Technical Grammy(r) for its 70 years of innovation in microphone design and contribution to the music industry. A continuing commitment to provide innovative, technically-refined products and engineering solutions of proven quality ensures that Neumann's stature will remain unassailable.
Neumann is proudly affiliated with the Sennheiser Group, which also encompasses Klein + Hummel (renowned sound reinforcement solutions) and Sennheiser Communications (technologically advanced headsets for PCs, offices and call centers). Neumann products are distributed exclusively in the United States, Mexico, Central and South America and the Caribbean through Sennheiser Electronic Corporation, located in Old Lyme, Connecticut.

| Distribution network of JZ Microphones is expanding rapidly |
|
|
|
| The last quarter has witnessed noticeably increasing interest of many customers and distributors all over the world about JZ products and signing a couple of very prosperous distribution contracts. Now JZ Mics are available in more than 70 countries!
“We are very glad that people from different countries worldwide are interested in our products and want to cooperate with us. I think it can be explained by shortage of something new and fresh in microphone market because Black Hole is absolutely innovative mic and differs from others not only in design but also sound,” says Edijs Rudzis, international sales manager.
As the most significant agreements of distribution should be mentioned those signed in the UK (Funky Junk), Benelux region (Selectronic), Poland (MJAudio), Switzerland (Audistro) etc. JZ Microphones has also signed a contract with ELPRO about representation in Asia Pacific and Middle East region.
“Nowadays when there is a wide choice of microphones and the same kind of prices, people are evaluating quality of products very carefully,” says Juris Zarins, designer of the microphones. “Our advantage is that our mics are handcrafted and hand tested and because of the new technologies and innovative capsules the sound of the new mics has been already recognized and people gladly prefer it. Besides we give a five year warranty from the day of purchase!”
The good quality and sound of Black Hole has been recently proven also by three endorsement contracts signed with well known and famous high profile users, such as Andy Gill (Jesus Lizard, Gang of four, Red hot chilli peppers, Bono), Steve Orchard from Air Studios (U2, Travis, Paul McCartney, films: Casino Royale, Moulin Rouge, Charlie & The Chocolate Factory) and Tino Oac (Söhne Mannheims, Backstreet Boys, No Angels, Tic Tac Toe).
JZ Microphones was established in September 2007 in Latvia. The main goal was to develop modern and innovative recording equipment and high quality microphones. The main focus of the new company was in developing new product line under the JZ brand.
